my wife has lost her voice going on 5 months now. This happened a few years ago and after going to specialists and that. The voice came back on it s own. We have done what the doctores have told us. gargle with salt water, antibiotics.... Nothing has worked.
Was it total loss of voice or is it Hoarse? Did the doctor say that her vocal cords are normal?
If yes,It's due to Functional Aphonia, Which means stress or anxiety associated loss of voice. A simple test is to ask her to cough. If she can do that, The problem is almost what I described. But, The patients voice box needs to be seen before commenting further
