What Causes Low Grade Fever And Chest Wall Pain With Swollen Rib?

I had an episode a four weeks ago of lt. sided chest wall pain had an area of my 2nd rib that was swollen and very tender. I ran a low grad fever and was very fatigued for several days. I was given a medrol dose pack, eventually felt better. Now, having same thing occur on the right side just not as severe. What is going on?

Thanks for your question on HCM.
In my opinion you are having Costochondritis mostly. It is inflammation of costal cartilage.
And your symptoms like swollen ribs, Chest pain and mild fever , all are symptoms of Costochondritis.
So in my opinion you should start
1. Antibiotic
2. Painkiller and muscle relaxant
3. Anti inflammatory drugs.
Apply warm water pad on affected site for pain relief. This will also helpful in reducing swelling.
So your right sided pain is also due to Costochondritis. So follow all these steps for better symptomatic relief.
