Hi, thank you for your time. I thought I might be pregnant due to being one day late. My OB had me get a blood test and it came back negative with progesterone at 3.3 Is this very low? I have many symptoms for estrogen dominance. Do you have any recommendations?
Probably your gynaecologist did progesteron levels to test for pregnancy only, because its levels are higher with pregnancy than without pregnancy.
In non-pregnant patients, levels of progesterone vary according to the phases of the menstrual cycle. Usually day 21 progesterone levels are checked to check for luteal phase defect. If checked in the follicular phase, the levels may be low.
So you need to get the levels tested on day 21 if luteal phase defect is deemed to be the cause of your problem (usually it is done as an evaluation for infertility).
Hope it helps.....
