What Causes Lower Appetite And Bitter Taste In My Mouth During TB Treatment?
I am under treatment for TB near scapular region for past 3 weeks. Suddenly my appetite level reduced for the past couple of days and feel a bitter taste always in my mouth. I am asked to check my SGOT and SGPT levels.
They are 10 and 12 respectively. What does this mean?
Reduced appetite and change of taste can occur during the treatment for tuberculosis, there is nothing to worry about it. Take multivitamins tablet (to be prescribed by your treating doctor) for this problem. Since most of the drugs used in the treatment of tuberculosis can cause liverinjury, hence your doctor advised to do testing for liver enzymes (SGOT & SGPT) which are normal indicating that liver is not affected by the medicines. Continue the treatment and complete the course as advised by your doctor. Hope this answers your query.
