Hello Doctor,I am a 26 yrs old and have a daughter of 2n 1/2 yrs.I am on dronis 20 tab since my child's birth.I sometimes forget to take the pill on exact time but as soon as i remember i do take it the other day morning. But in last month i did not miss a pill and now this month i have missed my periods, now its almost 7 days.and i am worried.Am i pregnant?
As you have not missed the pill during the last month the possibility of pregnancy is less. Proper intake the contraceptive pills are expected to give around 99% protection. While using contraceptive pills sometimes menstrual irregularities can be seen and amenorrhea for a few months can also see in some women. If you want to be sure regarding the pregnancy, please go for a blood test for pregnancy.
If the serum beta HCG level in the test show less than 5 mIU/ mL, the possibility of pregnancy can be ruled out and you can wait for few more days and you get the withdrawal bleeding soon. But to continue the contraceptive protection, you have to start the new pack as per the schedule irrespective of the withdrawal bleeding.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Sree Gouri S. R., OBGYN
