12 year old son complaining of moderate tailbone pain, starting mid-morning. Pain same whether standing or sitting. Involved in strenuous conditioning class, which he did yesterday. Also is constipated fairly frequently, including today. How to proceed?
Most common cause for pain is due to sudden pressure on bone due to sudden fall on chair causes tail bone fracture. Excess pressure on the area, which may be caused by sitting for long periods on a hard chair and/or sitting with added weight on your lap. Some time infection over the sacral bone area like boil carbuncle, pilonidal sinus can cause pain. Please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
