What Causes My Ears To Fall Asleep With Tingling Sensation?

My outer ears fall asleep if I lay on my side each night. It awakens me with the discomfort/tingling sensation, similar to an arm/leg falling asleep. If I roll to the opposite side, the feeling comes back to the ear, but the within a few hours (?) the same thing happens to the other ear. I have tried using softer pillows which helps, but is not easy on my neck. Any ideas?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi,
its due to reduced blood circulation because of compression on the pillows.
No need of medical management.
If you are not happy with your soft pillows which you are using now make a opening in the pillow on center and keep your ear positioned on the hole.
that is the remedy i advice for one of my patient and he is happy then.
Take care
