What Causes Numbness And Tingling Feeling In The Fingers?

Sir,
My mother had probelm of Numbness in her Right Hand and also Tingling sensation in the fingers. She got an MRI done but as that revealed nothing except some age related disorder the consulting doctor advised for Nerve Conduction Test. With this it was detected a classical case of Calpal Tunnel. She has been operated for the same for last 15 days. However the tingling effect has not gone completely but as reported by her it has reduced by @40%. Can u advise on following..
1. How long it takes after surgery to completely get rid of this tingling effect.
2. How to strengthen the Hand which she feels has gone quite weak compared to Left hand.. Any supplementaty medicine and or exercise can help..
She is @ 68 yrs of age and is also Osteoporatic.
Pls advise.
