What Causes Pain And Swelling In Point Of Joined Bowel?

my friend had a perforated bowel in July 2011 and was reconnected in November 2011 and since that time he has had a colonoscopy. He is still unable to eat certain foods such as meat. If he does eat something that doesn't agree with him, he suffers for 3 days and at the connect point, he swells.
