What Causes Pain In The Area Of Lung Surgery Scar?

My husband had a right lobectomy for lung cancer in 2010. Had subsequent reoccurrence of cancer and underwent 2 round s of chemo and one of 37 radiation treatments. About a year ago developed pain in area of lung surgery scar. Has had numerous scans with no sign of cancer but pain continues. Takes Percocet up to five times a day for pain, going on almost a year. Only explanation one doctor came. Up with is nerves coming back to life after his radiation treatments pain is in this area. Can you offer any suggestions for what this could be or other tests to do. Cannot have MRI due to metal in his head. Thanks.
