Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain In The Chest Post Gallbladder Removal?
I just had my gallbladder removed about a week ago now. I also had a liver biopsy bc of some other medical problems I have (Wilsons Disease). I am still having severe pains behind my ribs. I shouldbe over this surgery by now. Its not soreness, it's actual sharp pains and my dr said it was from a bowel obstruction. I am now cleaned out and still having the same pains. They are bad enough that pain meds barely touch it. What do I need to do? Is there a specific test or even question that I could ask my dr that would help them find the problem instead of writing it off as soreness? I know my body and have had stomach surgeries before and this is not soreness. It is different. Please help.
post cholecystectomy pain maybe due to stones in common bile duct OR increased fat intake OR functional pain. need further evaluation.
advice: - get an ultrasound (abdomen) to rule out any stone remnants in common bile duct - also get a complete blood cell count(CBC) test - avoid OILY food altogether - you may need to take nexium/pantocid 40mg OR famotidine 40mg once daily before breakfast for 8 weeks - avoid eating stomach full and mouth full - avoid spicy food
wish you good health. further queries are welcomed. wish you good health. regards, Dr Tayyab Malik
