Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Palpitations Which Worsens After Lying Down?
im having palpitation problem is worse when lying trying to sleep. i have heterozygote, and bad cholesterol. i done a recent heart test with ultrasound and heart monitor and find that is fine. recently discover i have a pain in the middle of the chest that may indicate reflux which im taking medication and the pain in the chest is gone but now im having pitch pain on my left side of the chest near my armpit.
The symptoms you refer (the palpitations worse when lying down) could be related to gastro-esophageal reflux.
So, taking an antiacid or omeprazole would help.
Regarding the chest pain, considering the fact that you have dyslipidemia, I would recommend performing an exercise cardiac stress test to exclude possible coronary artery disease.
If this disease is excluded, I would recommend performing a cervical spine X ray study and a nerve conduction study to exclude possible radicular nerve pain in this region.
Hope you will find this answer helpful!
Kind regards,
Dr. Iliri
