Missing the hormonal contraceptive pills or taking the pills irregularly on different time of the day can affect your hormonal levels and cause irregular periods. Irregular periods may present as delayed bleeding / bleeding twice in a month / spotting. The symptoms can differ from women to women.
Long term use of contraceptives can cause certain side effects. I would suggest you to visit your gynecologist for a clinical examination. Pelvic ultrasound can be taken to rule out any abnormalities.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
