What Causes Puffy Hands And Severe Headache In The Evening?

Hi, the past few weeks i have noticed at night my hands get puffy and towards the end of the day i develop a bad headache, sometimes a migraine. Over this period of time i have also been extremely tired, although i am averaging 8 -10 hours sleep a night.

Hi,

I believe that your symptoms should be looked into for possible causation by thyroid or kidney types of problems. I would probably send you for a regular panel of blood work to include electrolytes, complete blood count, and then, to cover the thyroid I would order a TSH and a FT4.

For kidney issues I would check the serum CREATININE, serum EGFR, and perform a urinalysis looking at standard values of protein, RBC's, glucose, and maybe even run an ALBUMIN to see if any is being wasted which could be one of the earliest signs of kidney dysfunction.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dariush Saghafi, Neurologist
