What Causes Recurring Pain In Left Arm?

I am a fit 48 year old female, who has aching pain in her left arm frequently. I have had this for over a year.Even when I am lying down to sleep. Its a dull ache that hurts to the bone, especially when I put pressure on the muscle. This has stopped me from my weight lifting routine. Friends think I pulled a muscle..What do you think?

Hello,

Pain in the left arm can be due to many factors like muscle strain, nerve compression, injury or trauma. Pathology in the neck or upper spine can also cause symptoms of pain radiating onto the left arm. Left arm pain can also be indicative of developing coronary artery diseases (angina, heart attack, etc) or anxiety disorders. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP, get CT, MRI done for cervical spine and left arm to detect any pathology causing the discomfort.

To rule out any developing coronary artery disease, get all cardiac function tests (CBC, Lipid function test, stress test, echo, EKG, etc) done. Get treated at the earliest. You can take Naproxen or Combiflam, one SOS when needed for relieve from pain. You can apply pain ointments or pain relieving sprays (Volini) for relief.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
