Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my cousin had twin babies via c-section yester morning .she recovered from anesthesia but after 45-50 minutes, her bp went up alarmingly high and the heart stopped working 4 some time.now she is on ventilator the bp has come down but pulse rate is 160.what is it all about?what chances does she stand?she is still in ICU.not recovered yet .s complete recovery possible?
It is most likely pregnancy induced hypertension. It occurs in patients with borderline hypertension or sometimes even in normal healthy patients when they get pregnant. Sometimes it may not present until after the delivery. If she was immediately managed then there is less risk, though I can't say anything without the proper reports. Did she have a Seizure after that? And yes complete recovery is possible if there aren't any other complications. The survival would mainly depend on how well she is able to hold up when the ventilator is removed (after stable vitals)
