What Causes Severe Headaches?
Hello, my name is Cherie and I just turned 60. 6-15-54. I have been on Warifin now for 5-6 years now . I have artificial artery in my left side of my stomach about 6 inches long ( by pass), with serveral stints on the other side, after one year the by pass was completely blocked, and they did stints and fixed that. Now I m on vacation with severe ons et of headaches, I mean they all most drop me to my knees. I am 135lbs over weight. I live in Green Bay, Wi. but I m in Hawaii for 4 more days, and back to Anchorage Alaska. I know you will tell me to see a Doctor, but should I get help right a way? I have had about 6 episodes now in the last few days , first one was due to a lot of walking pulling lougage, second climbing a hill, and now without any exercise, and lastnight and this morning while just laying in bed Coming on more frequently. I m drinking more water, and avoid and kind of exercise. The pain is right behind my eyes and temples.I was in an accident 3 weeks ago, and hit my head, but had CT and MRI and everything was ok. I m so afraid of this warifin and worried that there might be some bleeding going on in my head, but that s just my fear taking over. Other than going to the hospital what could be causing this onset?

I suppose by warifin you mean Warfarine. While it is true that it slightly increases the risk of bleeding it seems that by having CT and MRI you have completely excluded that possibility, both are very sensitive exams for detecting bleeding.
It seems to me that yours is the most likely tension-type headache. It is the most common type of a headache, a primary headache, primary meaning without an identifiable cause. It's usually triggered or exacerbated by stress and anxiety, so you should try to relax, because your constant worry of bleeding may actually be contributing to a headache. Remember that if INR is a well-controlled risk of bleeding is very low.
