Hello,

High uric acid levels cause knee or ankle pain. Intense pain is experienced & repeat attacks may occur if uric acid levels are not under control. Get investigated, get Urinalysis, Synovial fluid analysis, Uric acid test (urea & creatinine), Imaging tests (CT, MRI, USG) to rule out gout, septic gout or pseudo arthritis.

Your treatment will depend upon the severity of your illness diagnosed. You can take acetaminophen (Tylenol), NSAIDs (Naproxen). Do not stress unnecessarily. Keep your knee elevated on a pillow while on bed to reduce discomfort.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K,
