What Causes Severe Stomach Pain After Eating?

My husband is 61. He has had type 1 diabetes since age 35, and has been on insulin since that time. Related or not...he has started having severe stomach pains, usually after he eats. Tonight he has both a headache and stomach ache. He returns to endocrinologist the end of July for regular appointment but I am concerned this is something which needs attention. Any ideas, ulcer or something more serious? Thank you so much. Cindy
