What Causes Somnambulism While Taking Ambien Tablets?

I have taken ambien 10 for years.I have been taking hydromorphone 2 for about 6 mo due to a terrible car accident .The Dr recently let me try ambien 12.5 cr because I felt like I had built up a tolerance. I have noticed some sleepwalking when I take the pain med and the ambien.Is that possible?

Your question is does Ambien cause sleep walking and the short answer is yes. There have been several and common reports of people walking in there sleep and doing other activity while taking Ambien. Combining Ambien and a narcotic like hydromorphone will only increase your chances of having side effects like sleep walking. If I were your doctor I would recommend stopping Ambien and trying other medications to help with sleep.
