What Causes Sore Mouth?

I have a really sore mouth and throat which started after a day of severe vomiting (in excess of 20 times) even though my stomach was entirely empty. I also could not keep anything down including water.. I also had a slight fever and very strong headache and lower back pain. These symptoms eased after a day (nausea still remains slightly) but now I'm suffering whenever I try to talk or swallow and have noticed that there is a long swollen vein-like raised surface on the roof of my mouth. I have one on the other side but it is not nearly as sore or swollen. It's soft and when you press against it feels like a vein would but it's very painful. I feel like my entire mouth is sore and hurts and I have no idea if this is related to the severe viral symptoms I had yesterday. Could they be connected and should I still see a doctor even though vomiting has ceased? Thanks very much!

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern.

As per your query you have symptoms of mouth soreness after eating meat which is mainly because of food allergy and it could be due to acid reflux. Need not to panic about it. I would advise you to take vitamin C. in diet properly. You should drink orange juice daily. Maintain hygiene of oral cavity to prevent bacterial growth. Keep using antimicrobial mouth wash.. Gargle your mouth alternatively with hot and cold water. Drink tomato juice or eat raw tomatoes. Sip green or herbal tea after meals to soothe effects of sores in mouth. Don't take aerated drinks till the time ulcers don't heal completely. Visit dentist once and get it examined if symptoms keeps on persisting. Apply Dologel on these sores.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
