Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi,I am 70 years old and am having some arrhythmia's lately that seem to be worse than those that I have had for many years. My blood pressure has also gone up and I've normally had low to normal blood pressure. I had it monitored 10 years ago and the doctors said it was not a problem that I had a healthy heart. I've been taking a lot of Potassium (prescribed) and I'm wondering first, does that need to stop, and second if I should go to Urgent Care or make an appointment to see a doctor.
You should check you blood potassium levels, in case it is normal, there is no need to continue it. Even people with low to normal blood pressure can develop high blood pressure in some age in their life. In case you sudden blood pressure spikes which exceeds 40 mm Hg your normal blood pressure and you have chest pain, dizziness, severe headache or other neurological complaints I would advise you to refer to ER. Otherwise you can wait until normal appointment with your doctor.
Hope I could help you
Wishing you good health
