Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Stomach Pain After An Abdominal Injury?
I was kicked in the stomach in mid-April and have had pain ever since. It comes and goes but usually hurts when I have been standing for a long time or walking. When I went to the mall I had to sit down after a while because of the pain. It does not hurt to breath though. The pain is usually right under my sternum but is sometimes lower on either side of my belly button or beneath my ribs. I went to a doctor and got blood tests, pregnancy test, and even an ultrasound. She pushed right below my sternum and it hurt very badly and also when I had my ultrasound done. The tests results were all ok and she said if the pain persists I might need a CAT scan. I would just like to know what the possibilities could be that is wrong before I spend that kind of money. If I am bruised internally I know I have to heal on my own and wouldn t need a scan. Would really appreciate your help. Thanks, Sarah
Usually, the abdominal injury may lead to trauma to intra-abdominal organs. It is diagnosed by ultrasound abdomen or CT scan abdomen. Abdominal muscle spasm or rib fractures or psychological injury also may present like this.
Use tablet pantoprazole before breakfast for one week. Mild painkiller may be useful. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
