What Causes Sudden Elevation In The SGOT And SGPT Level?

My husband(42yrs) is having elevated CPK(390).SGOT& SGPT are also elevated . was taking Crestor &Ezetimibe.Stopped 10 months back. But was continuing with asomex2.5, tenormin25& Candesartan16mg. stopped all the medicines 6 weeksback. still cpk is 390 , liver enzymes have come down to 90 & 120.ANA profile is negative. Urine Myoglobin is 1.9.Pyruvate 0.8.what could be the reason for elevated cpk & body pain? Is muscle biopsy needed?

Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your husband's situation and problem.
CPK is the marker of muscle injury.
So raised CPK should be evaluated for muscular disease.
His urine myoglobulin is also high. This also suggest possibility of muscle injury.
Myoglobin is protein present in muscles. So in muscle injury it is secreted in blood and excreted in kidneys.
So both of these are favouring muscle injury.
Myositis can be the cause for his illness.
For this get done
1. EMG NCV (electro myo graph and nerve conduction velocity) test.
2. Muscle biopsy
3. Serum ANA level to rule out connective tissue disease because Myositis can be part of it.
