Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, My mom is around 55 and she recently found that her BP is 165/90 with dizziness/uncomfortable then and then along with tiredness. She is taking meds for bone problems (most probably osteoporosis). What can be the reason f.or HBP all of a sudden? Her ECG result is okay.
Hello dear, as your mom is 55 years old, the most common reason for having high BP at this age is idiopathic. But we need to rule out other secondary causes as she suddenly developed high BP! First I would like to get her kidney function tests and ultrasonography KUB done as she is on long term medications for osteoprosis which are likely to be vitamin D supplements and calcium. This is to rule out any kidney problem that can cause high BP. Second, I would like to get her Renal Doppler done to rule out renal artery stenosis which is actually a good cause to have as it is curable in most of the cases. Now if all these tests come negative, that would mean that your mom has got primary or idiopathic hypertention. Then please get her eyes checked for any effect of high BP on her eyes.
