Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ve had a high SED rate for about a year. This month is was 76. My doc thought it as PMR but has now ruled that out because the prednisone is not making me feel better and its not lowering the SED rate. I have her stumped but I need answers...what do you think?
High SED rate can be found in infections also. like we need to rule out tuberculosis.. depends on what symotoms you have. also autoimmune diseases like sarcoidosis, SLE, wegeners granulomatosis etc etc can also have high sed rate. but they all must improve with steroids except infective causes. infection should be ruled out. also i want u to undergo ANA, ANCA, RA FACTOR and serum ACE levels. also sed rate can increase with age.
