Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 32 yr old son has bad tremors/ involuntary movements while drinking alchohol. I have heard of tremors the next day but never heard of anyone shaking while actually drinking. It is quite bad and lasts fot a few minutes. Why is this happening. He has been a heavy drinker for a number of years but not on a daily basis, also he has used different types of drugs.
To make a definite diagnosis it is important to take detailed medical history along with the details of events that happened when the patient experienced tremor; like loss of consciousness, loss of bladder control, twitching of limbs etc.
I would suggest the patient to see a general physician to get examined at the earliest; and take help from anti-addiction clinic/program available in your country. It is crucial to have family and/or friends to encourage, support, help a person fight his/her addiction.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Ayesha Shareef
