What Causes Visible Lump On Forehead After A Hit?

my 6 year old son fell off the monkey bars at the park a week ago hitting his forehead on a wooden cross beam, his forehead immediately came out in a very large lump, 3 days later 2 black eyes appeared after the swelling drained into his eyebrows and nose, now 6 days later he still has a lump on his forehead which is very painful for him, he will not let anyone near him to touch it, we took him to the hospital on the day this happened and the Dr said she didn t think his forehead was broken - he wasn t scanned or given an x-ray. I am still obviously worried about him, should the lump still be so visible after 6 days?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
It seems that he might be having formation of big hematoma leading to swelling on forehead and black eyes.
It will take some time for subsiding hematoma on forehead.
Apply ice pack 2-3 times a day for few days.
Ok and take care.
