my sister-in-law had chemo after ovary cancer. test after treatments[ nov] came back negative for cancer at present. she now is retaining water in stomach area and in her lungs[ had to have fluid drained from lungs [around 1 liter] Why would she be retaining this water or fluid?
Thanks for your question on HCM. Ovarian cancer is very notorious for spread in pleura and peritoneal cavity. So recurrent pleural fluid and Ascites can be due to metastatic spread. So get done pleural fluid cytology and pleural biopsy to rule out metastatic involvement. Another possibility is low protien and low Hemoglobin. So get done serum protien level and CBC ( COMPLETE BLOOD COUNT) to rule out this. But possibility of malignant cause is more. So get done pleural fluid cytology and pleural biopsy.
