What Causes White Discharge Between Menstruation Every Month?

I have a white cottage cheese-like discharges between menstruation every month. When I consulted a Gynecologist she prescribed a vaginal suppository to treat such and the discharges are gone for a while and after a while I had discharges again. Why is it coming back? Is is alarming?
