What Could Be The Cause For Sudden Spur Of Hiccups Lasting For Few Minutes?

Hi my name is Kay,I have just started having hiccups in the last 2 to 3 weeks and Im trying to remember if I had eaten or what could cause this suddens spur of hiccups they only last 5mins or less. I have them morning or evening no set time it just happens. Is this something that needs to be checked out?

I am 62 years old. diabete, weight 190lb have lost 35 lbs total

The sudden irritation of abdomen diaphragm is the prime cause of hiccup the reason behind the irritation may the more acid secretion, this is the common cause and if the hiccup is due to this then it goes away soon without any treatment, very rarely it long last with this reason and in such situation antacid with proton pump inhibitor gives good response, but if it fails then it has to be investigated, and the first doubt is renal ( Kidney) pathology, you can discuss this with your doctor, take care and have nice day.
