Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband had a severe stroke 3 years ago and is immobile. Two weeks ago he was admitted to hospital as he had only passed watery stools for several weeks and then passed nothing. His tummy was very distended. After several enemas and laxatives and an endoscopy (bowel normal apart from enlarged small intestine) his tummy went down. He is now passing liquid stools but his tummy is inflating again and tummy rumbling whenever food/drink given. Have you any ideas

What Could Be The Cause For Watery Stools?
Hello, He may be suffering from irritable bowel syndrome or food intolerance or infection or leaking gut syndrome etc. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. What about colonoscopy?? what about stool culture and microscopy?? Avoid spicy food and alcohol, avoid smoking and caffeine drinks. Use tablet pantoprazole. If symptoms not improved please consult your gastroenterologist he will examine and treat you accordingly. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
