What Could Be The Reason For Having A Sore, Hard Lump At The Back Of The Head?

A few days ago I noticed a small lump on the back left side of my head. It is hard, immovable, and does not hurt at all. It seems to be more on my actual skull just to the left of where my lymph nodes would be rather than on the lymph nodes themselves, although I am not entirely positive. Now I have a tender spot on the top left side of my head. It feels like the soreness you get from wearing a ponytail too tight, but I have worn my hair down all day so I don't think that is the cause.

I am a 22 year old female, good health (so far!), undergoing ridiculous amounts of stress in my life right now (graduating college, moving to a new state, and had a recent death in the family), and have a history of anxiety. I am not even sure if these two things are related or caused by the stress I've been, but any help would be great.

Hi,
This may be a sebaceous cyst. A sebaceous cyst is a swelling containing whitish, semi-solid material. It is not a serious condition and most of these need no treatment. You may have had it for a while and not noticed it. If you feel it is sore and inflamed then it may be infected and in this case you may need antibiotics.
I suggest you see a doctor for confirmation and appropriate treatment. This does not need to be done urgently, you can wait until it is convenient to you. It will not be related to the stress you are suffering.
