What Could Be The Reason For Heart Pounding In A 9yr Old Child?

My 9 year old is complaining of a pounding heart beat. He was resting in his bed and came down to tell me this. I can feel his pulse stronger than usual, and if I look closely, I can see the movement of his heartbeat through his sweatshirt.
He also says it is a little tougher to breathe. That part sounds bad, but he looked like he is breathing just fine, - no accessory muscles, no deep breathing, and his lungs sound clear. He said he just feels like he's not getting as much air as usual, and it concerned him.
His heart rate is 104.
He was resting, but may be a little dehydrated. I remember that we ate pizza for dinner, and he didn't have anything to drink. He is a very healthy, but really skinny kid.
