What Could Be The Reason For High Temperature And Difficulty In Breathing?

My 3 year old son woke up with a fever of 103, we noticed his belly button was poked out instead of in like it normally is, we carried him downstairs and he starting having a hard time breathing as if he was all of a sudden congested and couldn't catch his breath. My husband has him at the er now, I am really concerned, he has been an hour there already, they gave him motrin and tylenol. What could be wrong with him?

Thank you for asking!
fever indicates some infection. Poked belly button might be a reason for it. Difficulty breathing makes a possibility of lower respiratory tract infection or a bronchospasm also a likely cause. Continue the same treatment. Add some bronchodilators and prophylactic antibiotics like augmentin for safety and consult to a paediatrician in case of symptoms persistence.
Take care
