What Could Cause Constant Vomiting For A Day, Pain In Stomach Followed By Enlarged And Bloated Stomach?

I recently was sick with vomiting from 9:00pm until 6:00am the next morning it was a sever stomach pain... that went away about a day later but I find now my stomach has enlarged about 4 inches around and I feel extremely floaty . Is this normal from all the throwing up? What can I do to get my stomach back to its normal size.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Welcome to HCM.
Your complaint is distension of stomach associated with vomitings since two days.I would like to know few more things about the history of your illness.
1) Do you mean by stomach whole abdomen or just the bag in the beginning of intestines after esophagus ends which is specifically called stomach in medical terminology.
2)Is there any history of constipation,if you have not passed stools are you at least able to pass flatus.
If you are having pain abdomen with distension of the abdomen and constipation I advice you to immediately consult a general surgeon as these are signs of intestinal obstruction .
He will suggest an x ray of abdomen in erect posture and also a ultra sound scan n CT scan.
Often such a condition requires emergency surgery or even if they feel that surgery is not mediately required they may take you for observation in a critical care unit.
If you are not having constipation or having loose motioñs and you feel that you are not very sick and can carry out your daily activities you may try with the following over the counter medications
1)tab . ondansetron 4mg thrice a day.
2)tab .buscopan 10 mg twice a day
3)oral rehydration solution.
If you are having distension just in upper abdomen and you are vomiting around half an hour of eating and you are having such symptoms on and off then there could be an obstruction just at the end of the stomach .Then you should consult a gastroenterologist who will probably perform an endoscopy which is visualisation of your upper intestines through a scope. Hopefully this will help you out. Thanks for consulting us on HEALTHCAREMAGIC.
