Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Could Cause On And Off Sharp Chest Pain, Ringing Ears, Increased Heartrate While Being On Metoprolol?
Heart throbbing with occasional sharp chest pains, ringing in my ears, heart rate is normal at times. A couple of times it increased to 160-170 Bpm while at rest. I m on metoprolol right now. Doesn t help the heart pounding but I haven t had heart racing although it feels like it.
Regarding your complains, I recommend to consult your doctor (internist or cardiologist) for a medical check up (physical exam, resting ECG and some blood tests) to exclude a heart rhythm dysfunction, anemia, thyroid dysfunction, etc, If a heart rhythm disorder is suspected, an ambulatory ECG monitoring is advisable. Metoprolol dose and titration scheme should be reconfirmed.
Hope to have been helpful. Greetings!
