Hi,I am Dr. Robert Galamaga (Hematologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i have been having tests done to determine the origin of my thrombocytosis. my bone marrow biopsy shows increased megakaryocytes, increased WBCs, decreased RBCs, mildly decreased iron, no scarring. any ideas? my doctor said could be myeloproliferative or secondary. negative JAK 2, another myeloproliferative test neg, elevated LDH, normal sed rate
Hello and welcome to HCM, Elevated levels of platelets and white blood cells suggests myeloproliferative disorder. JAK 2 mutation is a mutation seen in myeloproliferative syndromes- polycythemia vera and thrombocythemia. However, negative JAK 2 mutation does not rule out myeloproliferative disorder. Elevated LDH levels are due to increased turn over of cells. You need to consult your hematologist for further work up.
