Hello!

Thank you for your question on HCM! I understand your concern.

The symptoms you describe may be related to tension type headache, which is caused by contractions of the neck and scalp muscles.

Have you measure your body temperature? Do you have any other symptoms like nausea, difficulties with your gait or any numbness in the limbs?

I would like to explain that sometimes a meningitis can cause neck stiffness and fevers, but also other symptoms should be present like confusion, headache and vomiting.

I recommend you to measure your body temperature and consult with your GP for a careful physical examination.
A routine blood test is necessary to exclude inflammation or infection and a cervical x ray should be performed.

If the neurological examinations raises the suspicion of an intracranial hemorrhage or meningitis, a brain CT scan and a spinal tap may be needed.

Hope to have been helpful!

Greetings! Dr. Aida
