What Could Have Caused An Acute Renal Failure After A Foley Cath?
i had surgery and had to have a foley cath and im allergic to latex i was given the cath because i could not urinate it caused swelling and i had to have emergency surgery to insert a silicone cath this caused a infection and 10 days later i was hospitalized with acute renal failure why did this happen
hi, the picture given by you have missed sequences. what surgery did you undergo? how long after surgery did you have infection and where was the infection? Following surgeries over abdomen, some patients go into acute renal failure (ARF) due to surgical stress and volume loss. catheter related infections can ascend up to kidneys and can cause ARF, which is a likely cause in your case. The prognosis is generally good and most recover within 2-3 months. make sure you maintain hydration and avoid pain killers. you will be fine soon.
