What Could Have Caused Swollen Forearm After Drawing Blood?
Hi my mother just came back with a swollen forearm after getting her blood drawn at hospital and I was just wondering whether it was it it was a tear in the brachial artery or if they used a used syringe? Or just what it could be? She's heading back now but I want to know what happened since she went with my dad.
Hi, It seems that there should be extravasation of blood in surrounding tissues after withdrawal of blood from vein. Generally after withdrawal of blood we have to press that area with fingers for some time to prevent leaking of blood from vein. Nothing to worry give some pressue on the part. Apply ice pack daily for 2-3 days. Ok and take care.
