What Could Lumps On Back Of Leg Suggest?

My mum had a small lump on the back of her leg which they did an ultrasound and said it was a bakers cyst now 2 years later they dont think it is a bakers cyst and sent her for an xray now shes to go in for an mri scan does this mean they think she has cancer or could it be something else? if they thought she had a tumour would they have her in straight away?

General Surgeon 's  Response
hi.

your doctors are probably doing those follow-up diagnostic imaging to further evaluate the mass. it doesn't necessarily mean she has cancer. but it could be of help in characterization and extent of the mass. if there are indications, further investigation, such as tissue diagnosis/biopsy might also be needed. thru this, you'll know specifically what kind of lesion it is.

depending on the results/ findings, your surgeon would proceed accordingly.

hope this helps.

good day!
