Hello and welcome to HCM,
An inguinal hernia will not cause pain above the umbilicus or belly button.
Pain above the belly button can occur in various conditions like gastritis, indigestion, etc.
Is there history of indigestion or regurgitation?
If yes then this is the most probable cause of pain.
Consult your primary health provider for clinical assessment, relevant investigations and finally you can know the cause of pain.

Thanks and take care
