What Could Poor Definition Of Cardiac Border In X-ray Report Suggest?
Please interpret my xray report- There is poor definition of the right cardiac border with some opacification on the lateral radiograph overlaying the cardiac shadow and this is likely to represent some right middle subsegmental inflammatory changes. The remainder of the lung fields show slight increase in lung markings with some overinflation evident suggestive of COAD. The costophrenic sinuses are sharp. The heart is not enlarged. The mediastinal and hilar outline are normal.
welcome to Health care magic. 1.The right cardiac border is not seen clearly due to the presence of infection / inflammation in the lung which is anterior to the heart.(segmental is term used - the way the lung is divided) 2.Rest of the lung shows increased lung markings - due to the compensatory changes ( as some part is infected - the rest of the lung trying to compensate the breathing process) it is seen in the COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). 3.The costophrenic angle sharp - its normal ( no fluid), heart is normal, rest all normal. 4.You may need a course of antibiotic treatment for the lung inflammation / infection.
Hope it helps you. Wish you a good health. Anything to ask ? do not hesitate. Thank you.
