What Could Recurring Pain In Kidney With Low Temperature Suggest?

I have been having severe pain in my kidneys. It has been more so on the right side, but the left side has severe pain in it as well, it is just less frequent. I also have a low temperature. It is 96 degrees. I took it by mouth three different times to be positive that it was correct. The pain in my kidneys seems to come and go. When it comes, it is very sharp and almost takes my breath away. Today, it has been more frequent and the area is very sensative to the touch. What could this be?
