Hi,I am Neethu Vipin (Dietitian & Nutritionist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 42 year old women and I have high blood pressure. I was told my doctor that I must excersise and watch my diet. However, we did not discuss how much sodium, carbs, calories or fat I should intake. Can you help? Oh, I just started walking about three miles a day.
Add potassium & magnesium rich foods to your diet. This will help balance the sodium levels. Cut down on simple carbs (rice/wheat and related foods). Food plate should be 25% carbs, 40% proteins, 30% fiber and 5% fat. Brisk walking is imp (just remember to walk faster than yesterday)
