Hi. I am in Papua right now and have already treated a typhus infection (everything tested was positive) with levofloxacin about 2 weeks ago. I went to the lab again and the results say widal antigen 5 paratyphi ah (+) 1/20 widal antigen 5 paratyphi bh (+) 1/20 widal antigen 5 typhi u (+) 1/20 widal antigen 5 typhi h (+) 1/40 Can you explain me what this means. I am 33 years old and a female.

Hi, After going through your laboratory report, I can say that the Widal test results are negative for typhoid. Any values among the tested antibodies, should have equal or more than 1/160 to confirm it as typhoid infection. As all the results are lower than this level, Widal test is negative.
