Hi, my baby is 6 months old and still nursing exclusively. I've just had some blood work. Everything looks good except my Absolute Eosinophils level- it is 619 cells/ul, which according to the normal range should be between 15 an 500. Is this normal for the postpartum period or I should do some more tests? Thank you!
Hello and welcome to HCM, An absolute eosinophil count of 619 cells per microlitre suggests eosinophilia. There is no relation of post-partum period with eosinophilia. Eosinophilia is caused in various conditions- e.g. parasitic infections, allergy, hay fever, asthma, hay fever, urticaria, drugs, neoplasms, etc. You need to figure out whether any history of any of the above mentioned disorders. If yes then management has to be planned accordingly.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
