What Do The Findings In An Uterine Ultrasound Suggest And What Could MR Examination To Evaluate Adenomyosis Imply?
I had an ultrasound done of my uterus and ovaries the report says i have a nongravid 8.4 x 3.0 x 5.4cm uterus no free fluid or pelvic mass. right ovary is 3.6 x2.4x 2.3 cm and contains a 1.6 cm cyst. the left ovary is 2.0 x 2.3x 2.3cm. the transvaginal examination was performed and the endometrium is 4mm in size the endometrium is heterogeneous, with no focal mass evident. there is no distinct leiomyomata evident. the right ovary is 4.6 x 2.5 x 2.9 cm and contains a complex cyst 2.6 x 2.0x 2.2 cm the left ovary is 2.8 x 2.2 x 2.4 cm. what does all this mean? It also says that a MR examination should be considered to evaluate adenomyosis if this is of clinical concern
Hi, Welcome to HCM. Your ultrasound examination appears to be normal except for bulky uterus & a cyst in right ovary. Cyst in right ovary might be corpus luteum OR haemorrhagic cyst, but as its a small one, no need to worry excessively for that. Regarding slight enlargement of uterus & the comment for MR examination, it depends on what symptoms you are having. If you are having severe dysmenorrhoea OR pain during intercourse, adenomyosis is a possibility. But it should not require MR evaluation & you can straightway take empirical treatment for adenomyosis. If you are having some other problem, you need to consult your doctor for interpretation of the result in co relation with the problem. As of now, there is nothing in the report which should make you worry. Wish you good health.
