What Does Mild To Moderate Chronic Micro Vascular Ischemic Change Indicate?
I had a MRI because I have problems with shaking of my hands and and body. My writing had degenerated significantly. The MRI Comment states: "Mild to moderate chronic microvascular ischaemic change. The predominantly subcortical white matter distribution raises the possibility of amyloid angiopathy as the underlying cause though there is no evidence of microhaemorrhage on the gradient sequence." Can you explain what this means?
Chronic microvascular ischemic change are related to ischemic changes resulting from involvement of small blood vessels. Ischemic changes resulting from blood vessels changes in diseases like hypertension, amyloid angiopathy, diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia etc. In your case it is most likely due to amyloid angiopathy. It should be confirmed by further investigations. Proper treatment depend upon findings.
